The Sommelier Smackdown at the NIOS with Master Sommelier Emily Wines

One of my all-time favorite chefs in New York has always been Patricia Williams. Chef Williams is behind the cuisine of new Nios Restaurant in the Muse Hotel on 46th Street.

Kimpton Hotel Group's master sommelier Emily Wines and Chef Williams gets together once a month to organize a very fun wine event: The Sommelier Smackdown where two sommeliers compete to offer the better wine pairing so you get two glasses of wine per dish and you score the pairing. In the end of the night there can be only one!

Try this extremely fun wine pairing event, you'll have a wonderful meal with an impressive selection of wine and a very entertaining crowd of people at Nios.

NIOS master sommelier Emily Wines will host a series of Sommelier Smackdowns, where she will go head-to-head with some of the world's most renowned wine, beer and spirits experts. At each event, Emily will challenge a new visiting personality to a battle of the pairing. Diners will sample the duel pairings side-by-side with a three-course dinner by chef Patricia Williams. Winner is chosen by your votes. May the best pairings win!  

There are beer people and there are wine people both insist that their beverage is king with food. Now they will go head to head in a battle for dominance in the pairing world. You will be the decider.

The Sommelier Smackdown will be on Tuesday July 28, 2009. The event starts at 6:30 pm.

Emily will be going head-to-head with Sebbie Buhler, Rogue Advocate.
