Pre-Theatre Dinner at Saju Bistro

Traditional French Bistro with good food in a comfortable setting. Great for pre and after theater; if you mention that you are going to the theater they make sure that you get your food quickly and out of the door for your curtain call.

Menu consists of French comfort foods at very reasonable prices. Their wine list is somewhat limited but they offer variety of wines by the glass at $8. Service was better than we hoped for and because we mentioned we were going to the theater and we started our meal at 6:30, they made sure there was a server standing by us when we needed one to take our order, bring over our food and get the check.

They offer quiet a bit of daily specials so make sure check with your server before you decide on a dish from the menu as we did then changed our minds because the specials sounded really good.

We started our dinner with French Onion Soup and Spicy Tomato Soup (daily special). One thing to consider while you are ordering is that the portions at this restaurant are very generous so order accordingly. We could have easily shared a main course. We continued with Coq au Vin (daily special) and Salmon Provencal. Seafood Bouillabaisse and the Braised Rabbit would have been the runners up but that gives us something to return.

Because we were running out of time we ordered the daily sorbet selection and got the check. Everything, including four glasses of wine, tax, tip, etc. came out to $130 for two which is more than reasonable for good food and service in the Theater District. They also offer a three course Pre-Theatre menu from 5-7PM for less than $30-

If you are in the mood for authentic French Provencal cuisine in a casual bistro atmosphere than this is the place in this neighborhood.
